This Week in Livable Streets Events [Updated]

It’s a light week on the Streetsblog calendar as we head in to the Labor Day weekend. All eyes will be on Tuesday’s main event.

Today: 5:00 p.m. is the submission deadline for Transportation Alternatives’ "Biking Rules" PSA contest. Update and correction: The deadline for the Biking Rules PSA contest has been extended to September 28. Apologies for the mix-up. Elizabeth’s PSA is still good inspiration.

Tuesday: TA’s third and final City Council candidate debate gets underway at 7:00 p.m. This should be a fitting finale. With David Yassky running for Comptroller, the council is losing one of its most reliable supporters of sustainable transportation policy. Seven candidates competing to fill his seat in the 33rd district — also the home of the Kent Avenue bike lane — have confirmed they’ll attend. We’ll post an in-depth preview of this debate later today.
