This Week in Livable Streets Events

We’re a day late with this week’s event listings, but all the good stuff is still to come. Here’s what’s on tap from the Streetsblog Calendar.

Today: Tour the Select Bus Service route along Fordham Road in the Bronx with Auto-Free New York during its July meeting. Should be an interesting discussion — the Auto-Free folks view BRT with a wary eye. The tour starts at 6:00 p.m. at the northeast corner of Fordham Road and the Grand Concourse.

Wednesday: The New York City Council is expected to approve a bill that will substantially expand bicycle access to the workplace, a long-sought objective of the livable streets movement. Come show your support and appreciation from the galleries in the council chamber. The session is scheduled to get underway at 1:30 p.m., but the City Council isn’t really known for punctuality.

Thursday: Join the Transportation Alternatives Brooklyn Committee for their monthly meeting. Starts at 7:00 p.m. at Long Island College Hospital.

Friday: We’ve got a pair of deadlines for public comment. 4:00 p.m. marks your last chance to submit comments to NYMTC on the 2010-2035 Regional Transportation Plan. And 5:30 p.m. is the deadline to submit comments to the MTA on changes to the configuration of entrances to the Second Avenue Subway stations at 72nd Street and 86th Street.

Keep an eye on the calendar for updated listings. Got an event we should know about? Drop us a line.
