This Week: Rally for a 14th Street PeopleWay

The city and the MTA postponed a public workshop on the L train shutdown that had been planned for Thursday, but you can still speak up for an effective plan to keep people moving while the subway line is out of commission for Sandy-related repairs.

Transportation Alternatives is organizing a rally for the 14th Street PeopleWay at Union Square on Thursday evening. The PeopleWay concept calls for dedicating 14th Street exclusively to transit, walking, and biking. Tens of thousands of subway riders will be looking for a new way to get around, and they’ll need a car-free path across Manhattan.

For more details on these and other events, see the full Streetsblog calendar.
