• Monday: Hear candidates for the 15th City Council district discuss how they’ll address environmental health and sustainability issues. The 15th district is currently represented by Joel Rivera and includes the Bronx neighborhoods of Bathgate, Belmont, Crotona, Fordham, East Tremont, Van Nest and West Farms. 6:30 p.m.
• Tuesday: Help generate ideas for better walking and biking access to the Jamaica Bay Greenway at this community workshop. 6:00 p.m.
• Wednesday: The transportation committee of Manhattan Community Board 7 will be discussing potential redesigns of major north-south avenues on the Upper West Side. Come and make the case for upgrading streets like Amsterdam Avenue so they work better for walking, biking, and transit. 6:45 p.m.
• Also Wednesday: Learn about how global cities have made progress on broad-based, participatory efforts to become more environmentally sustainable and resilient. This is the second installment of a two-part series – ”Equity, Engagement and Transparency in Urban Adaptation” – that began last week. 6:00 p.m.
• Friday and Saturday: Car-free street events are happening in Williamsburg, the South Slope, Sunnyside, and Bed Stuy this weekend. Times vary.
