In response to some reader feedback since we launched the new commenting platform, Disqus, we’ve made a few adjustments to the layout of the comments section.

There are two changes: The comment entry form now appears at the top of the comment thread. We did this because it’s the only way to have the Disqus menu — where you can log in or out and manage your profile — appear in the same space as the comment entry form. This should make it easier for people to comment using their preferred identity.

The other change is that we now have the system set up to display the newest comments first, which we think will bring more visibility to comments that might otherwise get buried. If you want to have the comments display in plain old chronological order, like they used to, you can change this setting using the “Sort” drop-down menu.
