This Week: Meet UWS Police, Brainstorm Better Transpo Tech
The weekly Streetsblog calendar starts off with an opportunity to tell the NYPD to put its traffic enforcement muscle where it’s really needed on the Upper West Side, and concludes with a weekend conference on transportation and technology.
- Tonight: The Upper West Side Streets Renaissance will talk to the 20th precinct about focusing traffic enforcement on the most dangerous road users rather than targeting cyclists. Join them at tonight’s community council meeting. 7:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: Manhattan Community Board 8 discusses pedestrian safety issues at the corner of York Avenue and 73rd Street. 6:30 p.m.
- Also Wednesday: Panelists from city agencies, the MTA, and the National Climate Data Center discuss the resilience of NYC’s transportation infrastructure in the face of extreme weather and climate change. 6. p.m.
- This Weekend: OpenPlans (Streetsblog’s parent organization) hosts Transportation Camp, a two-day event bringing together people working at the intersection between transportation and technology. Topics will include open data and lowering the cost of technology for transit agencies, among many others. Saturday at 8:00 a.m., Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
