This Week: Join Your Community Board

Activists looking to get more involved in the fight for livable streets can start off their week tonight with Transportation Alternatives’ Community Board Jammy Jam. Learn how to become a member of your local community board, where pro-transit, bike and pedestrian perspectives can make all the difference for forward-thinking transportation initiatives. Then head over to Manhattan CB 2 to see one progressive community board in action. They’ll be discussing a request for speeding cameras at the foot of the Manhattan Bridge, a redesign of the Jane Street triangle, and the Park Smart program in Greenwich Village.

  • Tonight: Learn how to join your community board at T.A.’s Jammy Jam. They’ll have food and application forms. 6:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday: DOT Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan shares her vision for the city at a meeting of the New York City Cycle Club. 6:00 p.m.
  • Also Tuesday: Manhattan CB 2’s transportation committee hears presentations about a redesign of the Jane Street triangle, NYMTC’s Canal Street recommendations and the Greenwich Village ParkSmart pilot. They’ll also consider requesting speeding cameras for the Manhattan Bridge. 6:30 p.m.
