We’ve got a full slate on the calendar this week as we approach the October 10 launch of Select Bus Service on First and Second Avenues.

• Monday: If you’ve been out on First or Second Avenue lately, you may have noticed the new terra cotta bus lanes and the even more unusual sight of MetroCard vending machines on the sidewalk. What’s it all about? The MTA and NYC DOT will hold a public open house tonight on Select Bus Service for the East Side and the new street designs for safer biking and walking south of 34th Street. 6:30 p.m. Also tonight: Manhattan Community Board 2 will discuss the recent seizure of bicycles by Hudson River Park employees.
• Tuesday: The MTA and NYC DOT hold their second open house on the changes coming to First and Second Avenues. 6:30 p.m.
• Wednesday: How are improvements for pedestrians, cyclists, and surface transit routes affecting NYC real estate? Over breakfast at the Puck Building, NYU Professor Vicki Been will lead a discussion with developer Douglas Durst and Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan about the relationship between transportation policy and real estate development. 8:30 a.m.
• Thursday: Help choose a route for the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. After an initial round of public workshops in the spring to plan this 14-mile path from Bay Ridge to Greenpoint, NYC DOT is putting on a second round in the fall. The route selection workshops kick off with this meeting in downtown Brooklyn. 6:30 p.m.
