Wednesday morning: What is the potential for bus rapid transit in the NYC region? Find out at this NYU conference, featuring FTA Deputy Administrator Therese McMillan and NYCDOT Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan. Registration costs $65; $15 for students. Free for NYU students. 8:30 a.m.

Wednesday evening: The city is rearranging traffic patterns and closing some blocks in the area near Bruce Ratner’s Atlantic Yards project. Learn more at this public info session on the street closings. 6 p.m.

Thursday: Manhattan Community Board 8 will hear a presentation about the Select Bus Service proposal for First and Second Avenues. 6:30 p.m.

Also Thursday: Members of the Cooper Park Neighborhood Association present ideas to the Brooklyn CB 1 transpo committee for safer streets near a new school on Maspeth Avenue. 6:30 p.m.

Saturday: The New York Transit Museum hosts a tour of the art the MTA has installed in Midtown subway stations. 10 a.m.

‘Sammy’s Law’ Hunger Strike Begins at State Capitol

Two mothers whose children were killed by reckless drivers have begun a hunger strike that they'll continue until Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (D-Bronx) brings to the floor a long-stalled bill that would allow New York City to set its own speed limits.

Families for Safe Streets members Amy Cohen and Fabiola Mendieta-Cuapio will start a hunger strike today.
