Liz Padilla Memorial 5K Run

On Sunday October 1st, Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project will host the 1st Annual Liz Padilla Memorial 5k, in honor of Liz Padilla who was tragically killed when a truck driver opened his door into the path of her bicycle last June in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

In addition to providing free legal services to the poorest residents of Brooklyn, Liz was also an active New York Cares volunteer. In just 18 months, Liz contributed more than 59 hours to a host of New York Cares projects, most notably Achilles Track Club, where she helped out with tandem biking and even guided one of their blind runners through the ’04 NYC Marathon.
