This Week: Transportation Tech, Central Brooklyn Bike Lanes

Most of the action this week is happening on Wednesday, starting with an expert panel at the NYU Rudin Center about how technology is affecting transportation and land use.

  • Monday: DOT will present an update on proposed bike lanes to the Brooklyn Community Board 14 transportation committee, covering Midwood, Ditmas Park, and Flatbush. 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday: The NYU Rudin Center hosts a panel of experts who’ll discuss the impact of technology on transportation and land use, featuring Robin Chase of Buzzcar, Stacey Hodge of NYC DOT, Greg Lindsay of the Rudin Center, and Benjamin De La Peña from the Knight Foundation. 9 a.m. (A City Council oversight hearing on the topic begins at 10 a.m.)
  • Also Wednesday: Manhattan Community Board 4 is set to vote on a resolution in support of “complete streets” on Seventh Avenue and another asking for Port Authority Bus Terminal operational improvements. 6:30 p.m.
  • More Wednesday: CIVITAS and the National Academy are hosting a panel on the future of the East River Esplanade in East Harlem and the Upper East Side, moderated by Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver. 6:30 p.m.
  • Thursday: DOT will present to Queens Community Board 2 about Citi Bike’s expansion to Long Island City and western Queens. 7 p.m.
  • Friday: Claire Weisz of WXY Architecture + Urban Design will present the current design proposal for the Queensway at the Pratt Institute on 14th Street in Manhattan. 6 p.m.
