Tomorrow, You Can Take Bike-Share for a Test Ride

Photosim: NYC DOT

For the next few weeks DOT and Alta Bike Share will be setting up bike-share demonstration kiosks where New Yorkers can see how it all works and try out the sturdy, three-speed bikes that will be available at 600 stations once the system is up and running.

The next demo is coming up tomorrow in DUMBO, from noon to 4 p.m., under the Manhattan Bridge archway. There are four more demos scheduled for the next month, with more undoubtedly to come after that. You can see the current demo schedule here.

Meanwhile, the number of bike-share kiosks submitted through DOT’s interactive map is now up to 4,400. Got a favorite kiosk suggestion? You can highlight them on the enthusiastically named f***yeahbikeshare tumblr.

So, when will the rest of Streetsblog’s 2011 April Fools […]

Transportation Alternatives’ Noah Budnick sends along this screen grab of a Linus Bikes ad recently served up to him on the New York Post’s website. It’s a testament to someone’s ad placement algorithms that this puppy can find its intended audience even on the site of a bike-hating rag like the Post. Here’s a thought […]

(That’s Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez between Bloomberg and Schumer.) During the presser, the Senator was […]
