Car-Free Sunday in the Bronx & Transportation Alternatives Bronx Committee Meeting

Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, Jr. presents Bronx on the Move, a series of family fitness events. Power walks led by Health People, Inc., learn bike safety tips, improve your riding skills and pump up your tires at Transportation Alternatives’ bike station, dance workshops instructed by Contemporary Ballet Theatre, relay races and other games offered by Montefiore School Health, tips on healthy cooking and eating, jump rope contests, hopscotch, roller skating and other kids’ activities, and free health screenings.

1 to 2 p.m.: Be sure to check out Transportation Alternatives’ table

Transportation Alternatives needs Bronx volunteers more than ever. Late this summer, T.A. will be reviving monthly meetings of its Bronx Committee, and giving volunteers the tools to bring bike lanes, traffic safety and public spaces to their neighborhoods. Join them for their first unofficial meeting at this Sunday’s Car-Free Grand Concourse. They’ll discuss upcoming projects like more car-free events, the NYC Century’s Bronx route and, of course, the 13th Annual Tour de Bronx. Afterwards, join T.A. for a short bike ride featuring some of the newest bike and pedestrian projects coming to the Bronx.
