On Saturday, the city will pedestrianize six areas as part of DOT and City Council transportation chair Ydanis Rodriguez’s second annual Car-Free Day — including 30 blocks of Broadway between Union Square and Times Square.

The other car-free zones include parts of St. Nicholas Avenue in Upper Manhattan, Montague Street in Brooklyn, Shore Boulevard and Woodside Avenue in Queens, and Eagle Avenue in the Bronx. The times for each event vary — DOT’s announcement has the details.

Also this week, DOT will present a plan Wednesday evening for a protected bike lane on Seventh Avenue to Manhattan Community Board 4, which represents Chelsea, Midtown, and Hell’s Kitchen. Parents and faculty at PS 41, which is located further south in Community Board 2, campaigned for a protected bike lane on Seventh Avenue to calm traffic on the wide — DOT intervened in 2015 with sidewalk extensions instead.

The meeting starts at 353 West 30th Street at 6:30 p.m.

And on Thursday, Riders Alliance members will mark the release of district-level bus report cards from the Bus Turnaround Coalition. The rally starts at the M55 stop at Broadway and Rector Street in Manhattan. 10:30 a.m.
