This Week: Atlantic Avenue Safety, Staten Island Bus Service

This week on the calendar: community board meetings on street safety in Manhattan and Brooklyn, the MTA talks bus service with Staten Islanders, and advocates press DOT to prioritize people on Atlantic Avenue.

  • Tuesday: Want safer streets in Harlem? Share your ideas with the Manhattan Community Board 10 Vision Zero task force at this transportation committee meeting. 6:30 p.m.
  • Also Tuesday: The Manhattan CB 3 transportation committee will discuss reforms to commuter van regulations, as well as parking rules on Broome Street. 6:30 p.m.
  • More Tuesday: The MTA is hosting a public workshop about how bus service can be improved on Staten Island. RSVP requested. Comments also accepted via email. 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: The People First on Atlantic Avenue campaign will hold a rally to prod DOT to prioritize safety with the redesign of Times Plaza — the triangle at the confluence of Atlantic, Flatbush and Fourth avenues. 11 a.m.
