Tonight, DOT will present plans to complete the First Avenue protected bikeway to the transportation committee of Manhattan Community Board 6. DOT installed sharrows from 49th Street and 59th Street, leaving a gap in the First Avenue protected lane, after CB 6 objected to the safer design four years ago. For this project to come to fruition it’s vital that DOT and the community board hear from people who are concerned with the safety of people who bike and walk on First Avenue.

Also this week, community boards will take up Citi Bike expansion on the Upper East Side, as well as bike lanes in Sunnyside and Long Island City. Details and more calendar highlights below.

• Today: DOT presents a plan for filling the gap in the First Avenue bikeway to the Manhattan CB 6 transportation committee. 7 p.m.
• Wednesday: The Manhattan CB 8 transportation committee will discuss proposed locations for Citi Bike stations on the Upper East Side. 6:30 p.m.
• Thursday: DOT presents a proposal for phase two of the bike network expansion in Sunnyside and Long Island City (details here) to the full board of Queens CB 2. 7 p.m.
• Saturday: Join DOT, the 83rd Precinct, and other officials and electeds for a public workshop to help identify new bike routes in Bushwick. 2 to 5 p.m.
• Sunday: DOT will unveil designs for renovations to Diversity Plaza in Jackson Heights, along with plans for a smaller public area on 73rd Street near Roosevelt Avenue. 2 to 4 p.m.
