This Week: Safer Atlantic Avenue, Vision Zero in Bushwick

On the livable streets calendar this week are opportunities to speak up for a safer Atlantic Avenue, support better bike lanes on Lafayette Street and Fourth Avenue, and raise awareness of street safety issues in Bushwick.

There are more events on the full Streetsblog calendar. Here are some highlights:

  • Tuesday: The Atlantic Avenue BID and Transportation Alternatives volunteers will be speaking with Brooklyn Community Board 2’s transportation committee about bike routes, bus bulbs, and plazas along Atlantic west of Flatbush. 6:00 p.m.
  • Also Tuesday: Join Brooklyn Community Board 5’s transportation committee and DOT for a discussion of on-street parking on Pennsylvania Avenue between New Lots and Hegeman Avenues. 6:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: Transportation Alternatives and neighborhood groups are working to get community boards in North Brooklyn to host Vision Zero forums to address local street safety issues. You can join them at Brooklyn Community Board 4 to call for Vision Zero forums in Bushwick. 6:00 p.m.
  • Thursday: Manhattan Community Board 3’s transportation committee will hear from DOT about upgrades to the bike lane on Lafayette Street and Fourth Avenue, which already have the support of CB 2. 6:30 p.m.
