This Week: 125th Street SBS and East Harlem Bike Lanes

There are just seven days until New Yorkers cast votes in the September 10 primary. Tonight’s televised Democratic mayoral debate is the final installment in what’s been a grueling schedule of sparring for the candidates. The debate isn’t on the Streetsblog calendar, but here’s a look at what is:

  • Tonight: At a Community Board 11 meeting, DOT will give an update “on the status of proposed Select Bus Service on 125th Street,” which has been threatened by the lack of political support from State Senator Bill Perkins, among others, but also has the backing of other uptown electeds. Also on the agenda is an update on the installation of protected bike lanes on First Avenue. 7:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: Seth Diamond, appointed the state’s director of storm recovery by Governor Cuomo this May, will deliver a presentation on “Making New York’s Transportation System More Resilient” to members of NYC’s regional planning commission. 11:00 a.m.
  • Sunday: Get on a bike and see the endless variety of NYC’s neighborhoods on Transportation Alternatives’ Century Bike Tour. Online registration is available. Routes and start times vary, but the full 100-mile route starts on the north side of Central Park at 5:30 a.m.

Keep an eye on the calendar for updated listings. Got an event we should know about? Drop us a line.
