This Week: Get in Touch With Your Inner Advocate

It’s a light week on the Streetsblog calendar, but mid-summer is a great time to start fighting for better transit and safer streets. Plus, NYC’s biggest car-free event — Summer Streets — comes back to Lafayette Street and Park Avenue for six hours this Saturday.

  • Tuesday: Join the Riders Alliance for a strategy session about how to improve transit in Astoria and Long Island City. 6:00 p.m.
  • Thursday: Get involved with neighborhood campaigns for livable streets at the monthly meeting of Transportation Alternatives’ Manhattan Activist Committee. 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: It’s the first installment of the sixth year of Summer Streets. This year’s highlight — car-free access to the Park Avenue tunnel. 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: Neighborhood car-free events come to 46th Street in Sunnyside and East 204th Street in Norwood.

Keep an eye on the calendar for updated listings. Got an event we should know about? Drop us a line.
