This Week: G Train Strategy Session, Sandy and Social Media

This afternoon, readers in the Boston area will have another chance to hear from a livable streets leader when Streetsblog founding editor Aaron Naparstek, a fellow at MIT’s Department of Urban Studies and Planning, talks with Chicago DOT chief Gabe Klein. “Chicago Forward: Toward a User-Friendly City” begins at 4:00 at the MIT Media Lab.   • Tuesday: The Rudin Center for Transportation Policy hosts a panel on the role of social media in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Panelists include MTA spokesperson Aaron Donovan, Robin Lester Kenton of NYC DOT, and Second Avenue Sagas’ Ben Kabak. 8:30 a.m.
  • Tuesday: The Riders Alliance will hold a strategy meeting concerning proposed improvements to G train service. 6:30 p.m. RSVP requested.
  • Tuesday: DOT will present a neighborhood bike lane proposal to Brooklyn Community Board 16, whose district includes Ocean Hill and Brownsville. 7 p.m.
