This Week: A Safer Riverside Blvd and a New Plaza for Clinton Hill

It’s a busy week, with DOT making the rounds to update the Park Smart program in Greenwich Village, present a traffic calming project on the Upper West Side, and lead a public workshop for a new plaza in Clinton Hill.

  • Tonight: DOT presents its preliminary study on a Red Hook streetcar, which recommended not building the project, to the public and takes public comments. 6:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday: Manhattan CB 2‘s transportation committee will consider changes to the Greenwich Village Park Smart program proposed by DOT. 6:30 p.m.
  • Also Tuesday: A new DOT plan to build traffic calming features on Riverside Boulevard will go before Manhattan CB 7’s transportation committee. 7:00 p.m.
  • More on Tuesday: DOT and the Fulton Area Business Alliance lead a public workshop to design a temporary plaza at the intersections of Fulton Street and Putnam and Grand Avenues in Brooklyn. 6:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: Queens CB 5 will vote on whether to change the directions of a number of area roads as part of the Maspeth bypass project. 7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday: Andrea Bernstein leads a panel exploring the issues in the recent WNYC documentary Back of the Bus, focusing on transit equality across the country. 8:30 a.m.
