This Week: Shared Streets, Parking Tickets, SBS for Hylan Blvd

There’s something for everyone this week, from a sure-to-be interesting discussion of how to distribute street space to a City Council hearing on parking tickets and an update on plans for a Select Bus Service route from Staten Island to Bay Ridge.

  • Tonight: As part of its Streets Month, the Municipal Art Society is holding a panel on “Shared Streets.” After an introduction from DOT Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan, panelists will discuss the effect of reallocating street space from cars to buses, bikes and pedestrians. 6:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday: The City Council transportation committee holds a hearing on two bills put forward in Speaker Christine Quinn’s State of the City address. One would post information about temporary street closures and parking regulation changes online while the other would make it possible to cancel parking tickets written while a driver is paying at a Munimeter. 11:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday: The MTA presents an update on its Select Bus Service plans for Hylan Boulevard to Brooklyn’s Community Board 10. 7:00 p.m.
  • Also Wednesday: Transportation Alternatives presents its East Side Action Plan for safer streets to the Upper East Side’s CB 8 transportation committee. 6:30 p.m.
