In addition to the Streetsblog calendar items this week, there are two MTA Board meetings to track. Shortchanged by Albany and drained by bigger-than-expected TWU raises, the MTA must decide how to close a sudden $400 million budget gap. Major service cuts are on the table. The MTA finance committee will unveil the details of the austerity package this morning and the full board will vote on it Wednesday.

On to the rest:

• Monday: Come party at Superfine for Recycle a Bicycle’s 15th anniversary celebration. 6 p.m.
• Tuesday: The Queens CB2 Transpo Committee will discuss safe routes for seniors in this western Queens district. 7 p.m.
• Wednesday: Transportation Alternatives introduces a new, community-friendly way to promote cycling through Hasidic Williamsburg with Waving Wednesdays. For safety, cyclists will ride in waves along Bedford Avenue, and will be encouraged to wave to pedestrians and motorists. Says TA: "Riding in groups and waving to your fellow New Yorkers can be a great way to make a commute more fun." 8 a.m.
• Thursday: The Taxi and Limousine Commission holds a public hearing on penalties for distracted driving. 1:30 p.m.
• Sunday: It’s an annual livable streets holiday tradition, the Lights in the Heights Ride. Bike from Manhattan or Park Slope to see the spectacular Christmas displays in Dyker Heights. 4:30 p.m. 1 p.m.
