Happy Bike Month, NYC

bike_month.jpg

This is the first full week of Bike Month 2009. There are rides, workshops and other events almost every day, and we don’t have room for all of them on the Streetsblog calendar, so visit the Bike Month NYC website for complete info.

Back for another year are the ever popular Borough President breakfasts for cyclists. The first one starts at Brooklyn’s Grand Army Plaza on Tuesday morning at 7:30. In fact, two rides will be convening simultaneously. The Borough President’s ride will head over to Borough Hall, and at the same time, NYCDOT will lead a bicycle commuter ride to Midtown, with stops at points in between. It may be a little late to RSVP for tomorrow’s DOT ride, but there are more scheduled before next Friday, May 15 — also known as National Bike to Work Day. Check the calendar for details.

Another event tomorrow of interest to Streetsbloggers: Idle-free NYC will hold a rally and press conference on the steps of City Hall at 10 a.m. The public is invited to participate.
