Manhattan-bound on the Brooklyn Bridge this morning,
on the way to Transportation Alternatives’ City Hall rally. The traffic
jam on the right, the smog-cloaked city in the background, the sparsely
populated bike path — this is what a broken transportation system
looks like.

Two mothers whose children were killed by reckless drivers have begun a hunger strike that they'll continue until Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (D-Bronx) brings to the floor a long-stalled bill that would allow New York City to set its own speed limits.
