New York City Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan and other city officials will be doing a press conference to discuss the pedestrian, cyclist and traffic flow improvements in progress at Grand Army Plaza (between the Arch and Prospect Park). The impetus for these improvements was generated, to a large degree, by GAPco.

Councilmember Jessica Lappin is hosting a free bicycle helmet giveaway today. New York City Department of Transportation officials will be there to fit each individual with a free bike helmet. Please attend this event and tell your friends and family!

A free open house for the exhibit Jane Jacobs and the Future of New York. 1 to 2 p.m. — Christopher Klemek, co-curator of the exhibit, will lead two walk-throughs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Architectural historian Francis Morrone will be available to answer questions and discuss the related walking tours.
