Bike to Work Day 2017 With NYC’s Progressive Caucus
Another Bike to Work Day, another great ride with the City Council’s Progressive Caucus.
Wednesday marked the fourth year members of the Progressive Caucus have biked to City Hall on Bike to Work Day. There were three separate rides that converged, so we decided to start pretty early on the Upper East Side with Council Member Ben Kallos, whose district has seen the addition of better bike lanes, especially on First and Second avenues, in the past few years.
Our peloton picked up several dozen riders at Union Square (including lots of cyclists who decided to join up on their daily commute) and enjoyed a mostly stress-free trip downtown, where we met the Brooklyn delegations. At one point eight City Council members and NYC DOT Commissioner Polly Trottenberg were all on hand for the rally on the steps of City Hall. Take a look:
