Tonight: Your Chance to Quiz the Next City Council Speaker

With Thanksgiving coming up, tonight’s the night for all of this week’s Streetsblog calendar action.

The speaker appoints committee chairs and sets the council’s agenda for budgeting and legislation, which can affect street design projects, land use, and traffic enforcement.

Tonight council members vying to replace term-limited Melissa Mark-Viverito will participate in a candidate forum at New York Law School.

The event is sponsored by Citizens Union, the League of Women Voters, NYPIRG, and Reinvent Albany. Gotham Gazette Editor-in-Chief Ben Max will moderate.
