Tomorrow: See You at the Streetsblog and Streetfilms Annual Benefit

If you’re looking to start the weekend with a great group of people who, like you, dream of a more livable city and are working to make it happen, this one is for you. Tomorrow evening at WNYC’s The Greene Space, you can meet your fellow Streetsblog readers and Streetfilms viewers at our annual benefit, “Street of Dreams.”

City Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito

We’re excited to be honoring Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito, who for years has been one of NYC’s leading voices for better transit and safer streets. To mark the occasion we’ll be debuting a brand new Streetfilm that documents the arrival of protected bike lanes in the council member’s East Harlem district. It’s a compelling story about how steadfast political leadership, dedicated neighborhood advocates, and progressive city agencies combined to bring about a major street redesign that’s going to improve the health and safety of a lot of people.

Our event committee has put together a stellar evening with great food and drinks, live music, and some silent auction prizes that I can’t wait to bid on myself. Many thanks to the sponsors who helped us put it all together: Capital OneAdam White LawFermob USARide Brooklyn, the Bike Guard bike registry, SmartSignKickshaw CookerySpider Bite Beer CompanyWidmer Brothers Brewing, Citrin Cooperman, Steeldeck, Wit’s End, and a very generous anonymous supporter.

You can reserve your ticket online until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, or you can drop by and buy a ticket at the door. Tickets are $50 and all proceeds will support the reporting, commentary, and short films that we produce to make the case for livable streets. Here’s the when and where:

WNYC’s The Greene Space, 44 Charlton St. (at the corner of Varick St.)
