First/Second Ave SBS Open House

M15 Select Bus Service (SBS) is coming to First and Second Avenues starting October 10, 2010.  M15 SBS replaces the M15 limited bus and will provide faster and more reliable service through the use of off-board fare payment, bus-only lanes, and low-floor, three door buses.   The M15 local service will remain in effect but will also benefit from bus-only lanes.  In addition to new bus lanes for SBS, First and Second Avenues will also have 6 miles of new or upgraded bike lanes, as well as pedestrian refuge islands that will help shorten the distance when crossing the street.

NYC DOT and MTA NYC Transit are holding Public Open Houses on Monday, September 27th and Tuesday, September 28th which will focus on this new service, fare payment system, and new street design.

The most important component of the M86 SBS upgrade is off-board fare collection. The sidewalk fare […]
