The traffic engineers conducting the Brooklyn Bridge Park Transportation and Access Study will present their preliminary findings at this public meeting. The study, which included important public input, reviewed transit options to-and-from the park such as bicycle/pedestrian improvements, bus route modifications and vertical connections.

The Downtown Brooklyn Waterfront LDC is a community-based local development corporation created in 1998 to initiate planning efforts on the park. DBWLDC’s efforts resulted in the 2000 Illustrative Master Plan, which helped secure a $150 million financial commitment from the City and State to build the park. The study is made possible through $1 million from the US Department of Transportation that was secured by Congresswoman Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY), who represents the communities that surround the new park.
