Red Bull Racing Lives the Urban Car Marketer’s Sociopathic Dream

By Stephen Miller | Sep 5, 2012 | 8 Comments
There are a lot of gasp-inducing moments in Red Bull Racing’s new video to promote the Formula One Grand Prix of America, scheduled for Weehawken and Union City in June 2013. First, there’s the introduction: the national anthem being played by the dulcet tones of a revving engine. Then there are shots of the driver […]

By Stephen Miller | Sep 5, 2012 | 19 Comments
Under new regulations passed by Albany last month, curbside bus companies must now go before community boards before receiving a permit from DOT. Greyhound and Peter Pan, jointly launching service to Philadelphia from Chinatown, are among the first to navigate the new process. The bus companies are facing stiff opposition from neighbors before a community board committee […]

Bruce McCall, Limousine Liberal

By Stephen Miller | Aug 29, 2012 | 20 Comments
The term “limousine liberal,” first used against Mayor John Lindsay in 1969, was intended to call out hypocrisy among elites who, for example, urged support for transit but instead relied on private cars to get themselves around New York. With the latest New Yorker cover from Bruce McCall, it might be time for the phrase to make […]
