Bruckner Boulevard is one of the most dangerous streets for walking in the Bronx. DOT made safety improvements to Bruckner and Hunts Point Avenue in 2015, but there are still too many vehicle lanes and too much traffic, and conditions remain hostile for people on foot.

As it happens, FDR's car is the same vintage as many components in the signal system of the New York City subway. The difference is that the signal system isn't a museum piece that Cuomo can commandeer for a day -- it's real equipment that keeps millions of people moving on a 24/7 rail system.

Summer Launch Planned for Bx6 Select Bus Service

Some streetscape improvements are planned for the Bronx portion of the route. The biggest changes are proposed for 161st Street, where DOT would widen sidewalks and limit eastbound traffic in the tunnel under the Grand Concourse to buses.

NYC Drivers Injured 1,083 Pedestrians and Cyclists in March, and Killed 12

Citywide, 11 pedestrians and one cyclist were fatally struck by drivers last month. Among the victims were Joseph Ranieri, Carmen Velez, Ping Xie, Jacob Bavdaz, Danielle Leathers, Skylar Perkins, an unnamed male pedestrian in Manhattan, and two unnamed female pedestrians in Brooklyn.
